Industries We Serve

UNITED MACHINISTS IS A GLOBAL, MISSION CRITICAL PARTNER

Mission-critical work looks different depending on the industry. The geometry changes. The standards change. The volumes change. What stays the same is what we bring to every one of them: a team that understands not just the drawing, but what the part is for.

Aerospace

In aerospace, there's rarely a second attempt. Programmes are typically low-rate, the consequence of failure is severe, and certification carries as much weight as the part itself. We work within AS9100-aligned process control, with full material traceability and documented inspection at every stage, because in this industry, the paperwork is part of the product.

Defence

Defence work is rarely high-volume. It's more often maintenance, repair and overhaul, or short production runs against a tight deadline, frequently specifying surface treatments, materials or standards that aren't readily available off the shelf. We're set up for exactly that: an in-house anodising line for fast turnaround on surface treatment, and the sourcing relationships to track down the specific alloy or certification a defence drawing calls for, without adding weeks to the programme.

Medical

Like aerospace, medical work demands ultra-high precision and small batch sizes, but it moves on its own clock. A design revision can land mid-production, and every part needs to be traceable back to the exact material lot and operator that made it. We work to full serialisation and part-level traceability as standard, with handling and packaging built around what the part is for, not just what's convenient to ship. Where required, we work within ISO 13485-aligned quality requirements alongside our ISO 9001 system.

Electronics

Electronics components are often the smallest and most demanding parts in an assembly, with tolerances driven by how the part fits, shields or insulates, rather than how it looks. We machine to those tolerances as standard, and our in-house anodising line means parts requiring electrical insulation or corrosion resistance are finished and ready for assembly without adding another supplier to the chain.

Automotive

Automotive and motorsport programmes move on their own clock: a prototype needed for next weekend's testing, or a production run that has to hit a cost target at volumes too low for a high-volume supplier to bother with. We work in the low-volume, fast-turnaround space other shops avoid, machining aluminium, steel and high-grade alloys to the tolerances performance applications demand.

We Make
Complex Simple

We also support many clients in marine, mining and energy exploration technology, where the same standard of precision and traceability applies.

Manufacture-to-Stock & Just-In-Time Supply

Many of the industries we work with run on low-volume, high-mix production, where managing inventory or holding to a just-in-time delivery schedule matters as much as the machining itself. We offer manufacture-to-stock under production contracts: holding agreed inventory and shipping on a schedule built around your production line, not ours. It's a model particularly suited to defence MRO programmes and electronics manufacturers managing complex bills of material, where what's needed is fewer suppliers, not more.
